What type of siding should I use? It depends on two things, age of the house and budget. Two things you should be contacting your chicago siding contractors about.
A few types of siding are: fiber cement, vinyl, and cedar. We will be concentrating on the first two. Fiber cement siding is typically referred to as hardi board. Which is a major manufacteur of fiber cement siding. Certainteed weather boards are another well know name.
Here are the pros to fiber cement siding. It can be factory coated and provide a great warranty. It looks like traditional wood siding that is typically on older homes. It will not rot and it has fire proof characteristics. The factory coating and the fact that it is cementious makes it low maintence. Now that is somthing we all can appriciate.
On the flip side it will cost you more money because it costs more then vinyl. You have to decide if the benifeits are worth it, for me they are. Have your chicago siding company give you a quote so you could way out your options.
Vinyl siding is another alternative if you cant spend the extra dough on hardie board. Vinyl siding is made better and better each year. It has become more flexible and doesnt crack as easily. It also tends to fade less over the years.
Here are some tips your siding contractor should be presenting to you:We work on traditional houses. These tips are mostly designed to create a nice look on an older home. Installation of freeze boards along the soffit. Also along the roof line but usually a smaller board.
Corner boards. Usually done with hardie board installation but can also be done during vinyl siding installation. You would have to use different color vinyl corner pcs. Use smaller spaced siding so that it looks more appropriate for the age of the home.
Break up the wall with either a cedar shake that comes in vinyl or hardie. This helps give it an older look as well.Ok if you want any more siding tips you will just have to give us a call! Ultimate Design & Builders, Inc. located in Forest park, Il.
